My name is Gladys and even though my story is sad, I am a happy girl. I am
a seven year old Bassett Hound, and from birth until just recently I was a
momma in a puppy mill. When the breeder decided that, at 7 years old, I was
"used up," he sent me to auction with 13 other Bassett Hounds. I was bought
by a Bassett Rescue and have now found my way to Little Paws. May 31st was
the very first night I have ever been inside, in a house. I didn't know
anything about stairs or the noise a television makes, but I am learning! I
may not know much, but I know how to wag my tail when I meet someone who is
kind and gentle with me.
I have 3 dog roommates and I get along with them very well. I also live
with cats, and I don't mind them either. Before I came to Little Paws I had
surgery to remove over 2 pounds of excess glandular tissue from having so
many babies, and I'm still a low rider, but my foster mom thinks I am one
gorgeous dog. Right now I'm very shy, and I flatten on the ground if I'm
scared, but I'm learning that people aren't so bad, and once I get used to
you, I don't do that. I'm learning about house-breaking, too, and I'm
getting better every day. I love to play in the grass and run in the back
yard. The best thing I've learned is to snuggle on the couch -- and that's
my favorite !!
There is a lot of room in my heart for people who will love me and take care
of me -- is there room in your heart for me?
